CL Curated is a collaborative group of Surface Designers including Swedish Textile Designers and American Fine Artists organized by Connie Lee to design and create site-specific rugs for the Design and Architecture Community. The initial collection of 44 designs were created specifically for the shared showroom space at the Flatiron Design Collective. We worked collaboratively with Flatiron Design Collective Partners JL Create (John Lyle) and Fromental NY (Melissa Mittag).
New designs are often inspired by Vintage Swedish textile designers such as Barbro Nilsson and Ingrid Dessau who incorporated color in their designs that combined a modern sensibility with the skill of artisans. Our approach to contemporary rug design incorporates a sense of scale and symmetry that is more commonly found in anitigue and vintage rugs while our traditional designs go beyond the library of traditional oriental rugs and interprets antique textile motifs and tile patterns.
Our rugs are hand knotted by artisans employing techniques that were handed down through generations in our family owned factories in Nepal under the supervision of Gyurme Dondop Sherpa of Royal Intercontinental, Inc. We develop new textures by working with both Tibetan knotting techniques and also Indian weaving techniques.

ABOUT
The shared showroom space at the Flatiron Design Collective is as much a design studio as it is a place to view the collections. What the 3 partners have in common is their ability to connect the idea to the artisan and create site specific designs.
